BOOM. Here it is, the poster for the party Saturday. 5-color, hand-printed silkscreen, from hand-drawn color separations. Pretty badass.

Gimme a bit to get it written up, but I'm gonna post a process thread on how I did this. Enjoy.

Guys? This is serious bizness.

w00t! So today I went in and screenprinted the backs of all the cards. Out of 170, there were 22 rejects--ones so bad I just couldn't use them, so I printed to the backs of the other 148.

Now I need someone to help me fold them and put them into envelopes! You won't be doing it alone; I'll be right there doing it, too. Again, I'm offering food, beer, or artwork in compensation. I'm not sure how long it'll take. I'm guessing a few hours. Any time you can commit will be helpful :)

Thanks!

Many MANY thanks to Heather[info]kalonklaxon and Jenny R. for helping me print graduation announcements!!! These photos were taken last night. There are 70 announcements pictured on the rack. This evening, there are 170. After I take out the ones I really screwed up, I should have at least my minimum of 120 :)

I had my last day of my independent study on Tuesday. One class down.

So I finally got the second clay/plaster project from clay modeling done. We had to build an object out of clay using a word of our choice as inspiration. I chose the word 'multiply,' and for my model, I made a pregnant calculator. It looks awesome. And says '5318008' in the number window. Heh. I just have to finish my paper sculpture, which is already designed, I just have to cut it out and assemble it. Also, my deadline for this class got pushed back to next tuesday.

I got another big relief in stress today. I talked to my multimedia print teacher and found out that I don't have to turn in editions of four images along the same 'conceptual lines' like I thought I did. He told me to just turn in the best of what I'd done so far this semester and that would be fine. That is a HUGE relief.

My history of printmaking exam is about two weeks away.

What this means: I'm basically done with school. I mainly need to finish my paper sculpture, and finish my graduation announcements. I've gotta assemble my portfolio for multimedia, but that's not a huge deal. I'm free. And I can make whatever images I want.

Also, I just had my first conversation with Cameron, long time friend and writer of The Shallow End, in well over a year. It felt good.

Graduation Party

So... after thinking about it some more, I've decided to take my technicolour yawn project down to ~9x12. The reality of working a warped plate that size, and trying to properly register that many colour layers with it is really disheartening. As awesome as the project would be, I've got to be realistic; there are two weeks of school left and I still have other projects to finish. Ah well. Once school is out, I won't have to worry so much about time deadlines (for my own work).

Anyway, so, I want to throw a big motherfucking GRADUATION PARTY. Like, with a KEG and probably grilled food big. That get anyone's attention? Thought so. So, the question is when. The actual graduation ceremony for the art department is Friday May 11th from like 12:30-2:30pm. A convenient time would be immediately after that, though I imagine many of my graduating friends would have a number of parties to circulate. That would sort of hinder the full consumption of, you know, a KEG OF BEER. So, here's a poll. Would you come to a large graduation party at my place? And if so, when would be best for you? Discuss.
