very venture christmas

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 9:49 PM

somehow i missed out on all of this, and am only now making up on lost time. these were all posted over at quick stop entertainment over the past few years, so make sure to head over there and click on their ads so they make money through your almost entirely passive actions. if you're like me, you might even get tempted into picking up some crap you don't need from sideshow collectibles.

the monarch & henchmen nos. 21 & 24: hard candy christmas

venture industries: venture aid 2006

the monarch & dr. girlfriend: fairytale of new york

henchmen 21 & 24: wonderful christmastime

and while i'm at it, THIS is news to me as well for some reason? fricking internet, you're my only true friend.

have a chip tunes XMAS!

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 4:23 PM

you know what this is and you should know if it's for you, which is to say, it is an albums worth of christmas songs done up low bit-rate stylee and it is in fact for you. and you. and also you.

A C64 Christmas

EDIT: just found this, my favorite from the comp, rolling around in my good ole divshare:

do they know it's christmas?

also: check this xmas demo for the commodore 64, advertising an amazing variety of 16 colors!

awesome french(?) xmas mix

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 3:24 PM

i know next to nothing about this mix and downloaded it sometime early this morning from a blog i have forgotten about. it's tied into some french thing called the mamie van doren show that may or may not be a show having anything to do with mamie van doren.

i think it was made by this guy? with such high quality product (the dubstepped-on hanukkah stuff is a desperate, clammy-handed WANT) the details become a little irrelevant and you can do your own damn homework.

moonface boy

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 1:45 PM

the new ep from wolf parade (and many others) dude spencer krug, alias moonface, titled dreamland and consisting of the 20 minute song marimba and shit-drums, is available for a pay what you want sort of pricing scheme ala radiohead, and i gotta say that i'm really digging it. 12 bucks plus shipping is a bit steep to pay for 20 mins on one side of vinyl, but i'm thinking that each time i listen to this thing between now and january 26th i'm gonne be getting closer and closer to going for it.

i'm posting it up here, but since it's free from the source you should go and get it direct, mkay?

moonface: marimba and shit drums

Okay, now what the fuck!?

No one told me that David Lynch was supposed to direct Return of the Jedi!

I had to hear about it from the INTERNET (who granted, is like my second best friend, but still)

this was quite upsetting... as you can imagine...

I Have a Question

  • Dec. 21st, 2009 at 5:46 AM

I recently subscribed to two different astronomy new feeds, and they update like 20 times a day! How is this even possible?! How is it that new announcements in research can be made everyday, let alone 20 friggen times per day?

paul's boutique: the audio book?

  • Dec. 16th, 2009 at 10:20 PM

audible got together with the dudes over at the 33 1/3 series of books (and i think maybe rolling stone magazine?) and are giving away the unabridged paul's boutique book for free (absolutely no commitment to audible whatsoever).

i don't know about anyone else out there but this is pretty much a dream come true since over the course of the next week and a half i'm bouncing around between more than a few airports.

the book is read a little stiffly by this dude which results in some unintentional humorosity, but the story of the making of one of the few undisputed modern classics is totally absorbing regardless of the amount of starch in the vocal collar of the dude reading it.

COP IT HERE!

some dan deacon posters

  • Dec. 15th, 2009 at 5:26 PM
i just scanned a couple of posters from the two dan deacon shows i caught this year and though i'd share since they're sitting on the computer right in front of me and all...

holidays made terrible

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 10:53 PM

found video masters everything is terrible is having a pretty epic sale on their dvds right now, dropping 5 bucks off the price and throwing in a "holiday special" dvd to the first hundred to answer the call.

if you're on the fence about what a steal this is, the onion av club review is a pretty glowing one, giving the film an -A.

christmas is canceled

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 7:26 PM

y'know what... christmas is canceled...

i'm sure my christmas spirit will reinflate itself at some point between now and the 25th but damn if these two and a half minutes didn't completely kill it for me while simultaneously destroying my hope for this generation. sorry to get all grumpy old man about this, but i just saw the "jersey shore" promo for the first time today too, so try and explain how that and this shouldn't make me think twice about procreating.

and while i'm thinking about it, you got it way wrong sasha frere-jones.
